The Pic Macaya National park

The Pic Macaya National park is the largest protected area in Haiti. It is connected to the Massif de la  Hotte. The area was established in 1984 It is located in southern Haiti. It is also in the southernmost part of hispaniola. It is about 59,000 acres of land area. The highest peak is 7,700 feet. It is well known for its biodiversity and deep valleys. Its rugged terrain is very hard for people to discover life. The animal life there is not well documented. Even if this is so there's a lot of animals discovered. There are 31 species of reptiles. New animals are being found but at a very slow rate. The massif de la  Hotte is a hot spot for different wildlife. It got separated from the massif de la selle. The massif de la  Hotte has a lot of different reptiles, birds ,and plants. The Pic Macaya National park and the Massif de la Hotte are important because they help Haiti learn about new life.
