Haiti's history dates back to 1804 when they completed their independence from France. From the independence of Haiti they have stayed a relatively small country. The land that is Haiti was inhabited by the Taino Arawaks. Their economy was based on agriculture. The Tainio ruled from 400 B.C. to 1492 when the Spanish arrived. Haiti was first colonized by the Spanish when Columbus and his men came over from Spain to find a quicker route to Asia. Spain was incharge of Haiti from 1492-1625. After Spain stopped ruling Haiti the French came and took over in 1625. In 1791 Haiti fought back against the French and won independence in 1804. During the independence movement Napoleon sent 20,000 men to fight back against the Haitian rebels to retake control of the country. When they failed to regain Haiti the revolution was almost over. The Haitian just had to kill the rest of the French soldiers. In the french capture François Dominique Toussaint and he would later die in a jail in FranceIn 1915 the Us invaded Haiti in the Caco war. They said that they invaded Haiti to stop political turmoil. It is thought that they just wanted to keep their economic power. They ruled for 19 years and used Haiti as a puppet state. Haiti has been in a war with different gangs since 2020. Gangs have taken over Haiti pretty fast and quick. The gangs have 80% of Capital.
