Massif de nord
The Massif du Nord is in the northern massif of Haiti. It is also the second largest mountain range in Haiti. It is the western part of Cordillera Central that stretches into the DR. It is 100 km long. The average elevation is about 4000 feet in the air. The large range is a big part of the Haitians culture. It is so important that people built buildings on it. The buildings are Citadel Laferrière, Sans-Souci Palace, and the buildings of Ramiers. It has a lot of volcanic rocks. It is also home to 900 species of plants and 123 species of orchids. It has 31 species of frogs, 27 species of reptiles and 73 species of birds. New spices are being found every day. The cloud forest is the most biodiverse part of the range. The cloud forest is 4900 feet in the air. In the cloud forest there they found the Hispaniolan pine and the Hispaniolan oak. The lower parts of the Massif du Nord are very dry and desert-like. The Massif de la nord is important because it added a part to Haiti in the cloud forest.
